Three presets: small (5 bits per channel with dither off, 34 to 56 percent smaller than balanced on six sample clips), balanced (default - current behavior), high (slower encode with a more accurate palette, about the same file size as balanced).
Wires through src/lib/exporter/types.ts for the typed preset, the ExportSettingsMenu UI, and the export hooks.
Tests for the type narrowing, component behavior and real encoder output size; existing exports continue to use balanced.

main was rewritten and the export settings moved out of VideoEditor into
useExportSettings and exportPreferences, and out of project state, so the
preset now flows through those modules. Behavior is unchanged: high,
balanced (default) and small map to the same gif.js quality values.

- Around line 278-281: Add the export.gifQuality, export.gifQualityHigh,
export.gifQualityBalanced, and export.gifQualitySmall translation keys to the
English settings locale and every other locale, using appropriate translated
values so the GIF quality control displays localized labels.
Review comments at @src/lib/exporter/gifExporter.ts:
- Line 247: Validate the `small` preset using real gif.js exports of
representative recordings rather than the mock size calculation in
`gifExporter.test.ts`. If it does not reliably reduce output size enough to
justify its quality loss, change its mechanism or label; measure disabling
dithering in the `gifExporter` options before adopting that mechanism, since
`getGifQuality` changes sampling quality rather than palette size.

The small preset only raised the gif.js quality value, which sets the
palette sample interval. Real encodes of six clips came out at most 4 percent
smaller than balanced, so the label promised something it did not do.
Reduce frames to 5 bits per channel and turn dither off for that preset.
The same clips now come out 34 to 56 percent smaller. Replace the mocked
blob size test with one that runs the real encoder, and add the GIF quality
labels to every locale.
Both CodeRabbit findings were valid and are fixed in b4698a0.
Locale keys: the four export.gifQuality keys are now in en and the other ten settings.json locale files, with translated values, and npm run i18n:check passes. The translations are mine and have not been checked by native speakers, so corrections are welcome.
Small file preset: I ran the real gif.js 0.2.0 GIFEncoder on 60 frames at 640px wide from six clips in this repo: four docs/media GIFs, wispysky.mp4 and filmstrip.mp4. Compared with balanced:
quality 20 alone (the old small preset): +0.1 to -3.7 percent
quality 20 with dither off: +14.0 to -39.8 percent, so that was not reliable either
quality 20, dither off, 5 bits per channel: -34.4 to -56.1 percent
The small preset now uses the third option. Color depth is reduced in addRenderedGifFrame before the frame reaches the encoder. PSNR against the source was 33.8 to 38.6 dB, against 32.2 to 38.6 dB for balanced.
The mocked blob size test is gone. Its replacement runs the real encoder on a noisy gradient frame and fails with the old settings.
Limits: these numbers came from calling the encoder directly, not from a full app export through the worker pool, and I did not judge banding on soft gradients by eye. The docs GIFs were already palette limited before I sampled them. Typecheck, lint, i18n check and the exporter and video editor tests passed locally on Node 24, since Node 22 is not installed here. The full suite passed in CI on this commit.
